With all the new updates in gaming and next-gen technology since the last title, it could make a promising return, although there are some hurdles. Prince of Persia returning with a fresh action gameplay style that differs from Assassin's Creed's sneaking and running rooftops would be welcome. Ubisoft appears to have chosen to focus instead on Assassin's Creed, a franchise that, let's face it, has been done to death.
#Prince of persia 3d gameplay how to#
And i don't how to aproach making the character pull himself up.Roughly a decade after its last mainline game, and it seems Prince of Persia has faded into obscurity. So i need a way do modularly place these ledges, so the heights are always the same etc. Like, it will be very difficult and time consuming to make a whole level, if i need to set up manually the ledge object. When both objects collide, i stop the character movement and anchor him on the edge, so he stays hanging in there, but that's as far as i have thought and it brings up some other problems. Then every ledge will have a similiar object.

So to make it happen i was thinking on having an object on the character, much like the groundcheck, but at the height of his hands when his arms are straight up. The collision happens at the orange/brown rectangles, the grass and environment elements will be added later, but won't interact mechanicaly, it will be just for visuals, like the grass and the tree there.īut i digress.
#Prince of persia 3d gameplay code#
All the platformers and side-scrollers people make are those about "jumping and bouncing" (big commas here), like mario, castlevania, metroid, mega man, etc.Īnyone have any thoughts on how could i start to aproach it?įor the sake of visualizing it, this is the scene where i'm developing the mechanics and playtesting it for now.Īt some point, i will have to code the hability for the character to jump up and grab that ledge at his right and pull himselft to that elevated ground. I haven't found any content or discussion where someone is trying something like this. The thing i still struggle to figure out how to do is when the character grabs a ledge and pulls himself. If someone reading this don't know the first Prince of Persia, i suggest watching a minute of this gameplay (it will already start at the right time) Except for one thing, wich i didn't got to it yet, but soon i'll need to make it and i don't know how to aproach it. gameplay is being coded and animated by me, and everything is going just fine, i didn't stumble on any problem i couldn't solve. The running, walking, ducking, sliding, jumping etc. It's not a standard platformer where the player jumps and bouces around the level, it's more of a realistic character movement. I'm developing a side scroller with controlls very much alike the first prince of persia.
